The August Kindle sale is full of excellent books
A new month is here, which means the August Kindle sale has landed, but where do we even start? Luckily, I’ve found the best books available for €1.16, including one of the best Irish books I’ve ever read.
The Pull of the Stars by Emma Donoghue
This has been one of my all-time favourite Irish novels for years, but I guarantee many Irish readers have missed out on it. The Pull of the Stars is set during three days in a maternity ward at the height of the Great Flu.
It’s a heartbreaking historical fiction novel that I still think about even though it’s been years since I read it.

Our Perfect Storm by Carley Fortune
I have read a lot of romance novels in recent years, and this was a pleasant surprise. I’ve been trying to find a book to fill the Emily Henry gap this year, and this friends-to-lovers book by Carley Fortune was a joy to read.

People in Love by Claire Daverley
Claire Daverley is for the people who loved Normal People and One Day. If you’re looking for an emotional rollercoaster of a book, then this is one for you. This is a love triangle that will split your heart in two…

People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry
A friends-to-lovers rom-com that will remind you of Nora Ephron’s work. You can never go wrong with an Emily Henry novel.

The Shampoo Effect by Jenny Jackson
An accidental pregnancy turns a tight-knit group on its head in this sharp, witty, and drama-fuelled debut by Jenny Jackson.

In Five Years by Rebecca Serle
This is one of the most unique books I’ve read in the past decade, but it didn’t get the attention it deserved when it was first published. This is a love story, but not the one you’re expecting.
A story of love, loss, and life will have you questioning everything you thought you knew about destiny.
