Over the past few weeks, our gardens have been giving us life. A little sanctuary away from the rest of the world, they’ve been the place to retreat to with a book or glass of wine in the evenings, and to enjoy a barbecue in on weekend days. As well as the lift we get […]
Even wondered how a queen celebrates her birthday? With chocolate cupcakes apparently. Queen Elizabeth celebrated her 94th birthday today, April 21, and in celebration the Royal Pastry Chefs (imagine that was your job!) shared their recipe for chocolate birthday cakes along with some photos of the finished product. No big messy slice for her majesty […]
Queen Elizabeth is 94 today! She’s one of the most famous and important women in the world, but as her official Twitter account noted today, she is also a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. And we’re pretty sure that it must be as hard for Queen Elizabeth as for anyone else to be celebrating her […]
Where once a summer filled with weddings stretched out before us, now we have none to look forward to. Well, not in the immediate future anyway. Thankfully, however, lots of the couples that we know have postponed their celebration rather than cancelling them outright. So, all things going well, it will be an autumn choc […]
Is there anything like the joy of a good book? One of the few good things about the virus crisis has been the opportunity to finally make our way through a waiting stack of books – especially since the weather turned good and we’ve been able to read in the back garden. But more than […]
“There’s a war we’re fighting, and it’s breaking all our hearts.” Nathan Carter has teamed up with some other prominent Irish musicians to record a special song in reaction to the Coronavirus crisis. Entitled #StayAtHomeStayAlive, the track serves as both a reminder and an appeal to the general public about the small but vital part that they […]
We are ladies who like to stay glam. In normal times, we do our hair toss, check our nails and feel good as Lizzo. But life in lockdown is throwing up some major challenges to our beauty routines. It’s one thing not be able to pop into our favourite nail salons and hairdressers to get […]
We’re going back to Bayside! After endless speculation over whether the high school comedy would be the next in line for a modern day reboot, and which of its ensemble cast could be tempted back if it did, six months ago it was finally confirmed that an all new Saved By The Bell was happening. […]
Tormund was, hands down, our ever favourite Game of Thrones character. Yes, in the first season we were partial to the noble Ned. And we admired the valiant Rob and John before he got boring. And there were phases when we were rooting for Daenerys and Tyrion and Arya. And, of course, we fell for […]
It’s the soundtrack our summer needs. Shaggy aka Mr Boombastic aka Mr Lover Lover (stop me when the references get too old for you) is back! Unbelievably it’s been 20 whole years since Shaggy first graced us with his growling Reggae tones and dancefloor fillers like Oh Carolina, Angel and Boombastic. His tracks were cheesy, […]
When is it OK for a grown up to have a stuffed toy? When there’s a pandemic, and it’s a seriously cute llama and you’ve made it yourself, obvs. Crafters across the country have been putting their #stayathome time to good use coming up with all sorts of handmade creations, from stencilled window boxes for […]
When Ann Rudden tells people that she makes chocolate for a living the response is generally one word: “Wow.” “People say ‘wow that’s a great job – you’re so lucky.’ But they don’t realise how hard it is. Owning a small business is tough, you have to be so driven and have the passion or […]
