Participating cinemas to offer tickets priced from just €4 all weekend across Ireland

Cinema Weekend Offers Ireland

Cinemas in Ireland will celebrate National Cinema Weekend

Cinema audiences across Ireland will be able to enjoy the big-screen experience for less this September, as cinemas join the nationwide National Cinema Weekend celebration on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September.

Participating cinemas will offer admission prices starting from just €4 (RSP) throughout the weekend. The initiative is proudly supported by Fís Éireann / Screen Ireland.

The initiative will give audiences the chance to enjoy multiple films at a reduced rate across two days.

Previous National Cinema Days were such a huge success in Ireland, with over 200,000 admissions across a single day, that the film industry made the decision to extend the initiative this year to take in a full weekend, allowing audiences to see multiple films at a reduced rate across Saturday and Sunday, 5th and 6th September.

The industry is looking forward to welcoming even more visitors to the big screen for National Cinema Weekend 2026, to share the special cinema experience with friends and family – who will you take?

Approximately 99% of cinemas in the Republic of Ireland will participate in this initiative, offering a wide variety of new and recent releases for audiences to enjoy, including family favourites that all the family can enjoy as a treat as schools have just reopened.

Cinemas in every county in the Republic of Ireland are participating, meaning easy access for audiences to big screen entertainment in their home county across the weekend. Cinemagoers across National Cinema Weekend will also be able to benefit from additional screenings catering to diverse audiences, including sensory screenings, along with additional subtitled and captioned screenings at various cinemas.

Off the back of a blockbuster summer and the massive popularity of many titles including The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the cinema industry in Ireland has united to celebrate the ritual of cinema-going and the important place it has in Irish life. For many years, Ireland has had the highest cinema attendance per capita in Europe*.

The Republic of Ireland also has the highest screen density per capita of any European country, with an average of one cinema screen per 10,000 people, demonstrating the Irish public’s love of cinema*.

Tickets can be purchased online and at the box office from 5 pm on Sunday 30th August.

Audiences are advised to check local cinema listings and can also visit www.cinemaweekend.ie as a central online location to check out what’s screening at their local cinema for National Cinema Weekend.
